Instead of removing a 20’x20’x18” thick concrete panel. Elephant Armor® can restore and extend the lifecycle of the badly cracked panel at a fraction of the cost.
A 'keyway' was cut around the perimeter of the damaged concrete, then cleaned and prepped removing any loose material inside the crack.
Elephant Armor® was poured into the void and pushed deep into the crack with a textured roller.
This crack fill was smoothed with a squeegee to ensure it was flush to the existing surface.
The crack fill was allowed to set up and then an Elephant Armor® overlay of 1/4" was applied to the repair surface using GST Textured Rollers and Squeegee Trowels.
After the Elephant Armor® has set up, an application of Ecobeton® VetroFluid® is sprayed on to further extend the life of the repair.
In just TWO HOURS the repair was completed and the apron was returned to service, saving the airport downtime at a fraction of the cost of a 'remove and replace' scenario.
